Commenting on the decision to proceed with compulsory fluoridation in the Southampton area, including parts of his Eastleigh constituency, Eastleigh MP Chris Huhne said:
"This is a high-handed decision that flies in the face of reasoned and careful local objections. The best way of tackling tooth decay is to ensure access to National Health Service dentists, and not to introduce a procedure whose benefits and risks are uncertain."
