Local MP Sandra Gidley has been out with Hampshire Search and Rescue to see first-hand what it's like to be on the search for vulnerable missing persons.
The MP took part in a training exercise with a rescue team from the organisation, seeing firsthand the work undertaken by the invaluable local volunteers who provide extra help assisting the Police and other emergency services.
After taking part in some of the training used by the Search and Rescue team, Sandra said:
"Hampshire Search and Rescue are a great support to the police and are doing a demanding job which is vital for families who are worried about missing relatives.
"The whole of Hampshire owes a thank you for the tireless service these local volunteers provide - a service that is being used more and more as their reputation grows.
"So, if you fancy volunteering and doing something a bit different, why not contact Hampshire Search and Rescue? The more people volunteer, the more we can help vulnerable and missing people."
People interested in volunteering with Hampshire Search and Rescue can contact them by e-mailing to membership@hantsar.org or by calling them on 07858 141618.
