Cllr Gerry Drake

Gerry Drake

I was born in Over Wallop, Hampshire. I did an apprenticeship to become a carpenter and joiner. I moved to Southampton in 1964. I and my family moved to Peartree ward in 1982 where I have lived ever since.

I am a founder/member of the Liberal Democrats.

I was first elected to serve Peartree ward as a County Councillor in 1993 where I was vice chair of the Hamble River. I was elected as a Southampton City Councillor in the Unitary Elections in 1996. I have served on a number of committees over the years including Environment & Transport, Health & Adult Social Care, and Licensing Committee.

I have recently been Chair of the Council Group and have chaired the Local Party. I have been involved with a number of local community groups over the years. I am interested in green and environmental issues.

In my leisure time I enjoy listening to music.
