Keith Reed

Keith Reed

Keith Reed works as chief executive of a national child welfare charity.

He lives with his family in Portswood Ward and is an active campaigner with the Portswood Focus team, working with councillors Adrian Vinson and Steve Sollitt.

Keith has led the campaigns on Portswood Against Crime and against the sale of Westridge Road Car Park to a supermarket chain.

He has special interests in supporting families and schools.

Adrian Vinson

Adrian Vinson lives in Portswood Ward and has many years' experience speaking up for local people.

Adrian:

- Has worked for improved road and pavement repairs and road safety eg repaving Portswood Broadway, pedestrian crossings in Highfield Lane, Portswood Rd, St Denys Rd.

- Has worked with local residents' associations to stop harmful Planning and Licensing applications, especially managing the spread of HMOs.

- Champions 'Green' issues such as climate change measures, recycling, alternative energy, public transport, protecting our open spaces such as the Common.

- Pioneered Resident's Parking around the University; now campaigning for Portswood Park.

- Campaigned to Save Our Post Offices & stop cuts to ticket office hours at St Denys Station.

- Played a leading role to stop the Tories' art sales and develop the new arts centre.

Ward Information

Portswood ward is bounded on the east by the river Itchen and has a population of around 14,600. Neighbouring wards are Bassett and Swaythling to the north, Bevois to the south and Shirley to the west. The area has a mix of accommodation, including large detached houses with gardens, flats, terraced houses and student accommodation. The main Portswood area is vibrant with busy local shops. To the north is the residential area of Highfield, which also houses the campus of the University of Southampton. To the east is the densely populated and riverside area of St Denys which has a railway station and is the gateway to Bitterne via the Cobden Bridge.
