Harry Mitchell lives locally and has previously been elected to the Council, serving as Sheriff of Southampton.
He is a part-time taxi driver and a former police officer.
Harry is a church warden and a Residents' Association member.
He has a particular interest in health and safety issues, roads and pavements, activities for young people and the elderly, recycling and tackling wasteful spending.
Shirley ward is in central Southampton and has a population of around 13,900. Neighbouring wards are Bassett, Millbrook, Freemantle, Coxford and Redbridge. The area has a mix of semi detached housing, some terraced housing and also tower blocks. Southampton General Hospital and Princess Anne Maternity hospital are located on the edge of the ward boundary and there is a large shopping area in the ward along Shirley High Street. The ward also contains large green spaces including St James Park and Southampton Common which is a vast green area with a paddling pool area, Hawthorns Urban Wildlife centre, a boating lake and other attractions.
