'Tentative welcome' for road improvement project

Redbrige ward campaigner Simon Stokes has given a tentative welcome to news that Millbrook and Redbridge roundabouts will be receiving significant upgrades over the next two years.

Simon StokesSimon said:

"In the long-term, this infrastructure investment is excellent news for the city.

"However, roadworks of this scale will inevitably cause some short-term disruption, to both residents and businesses. It is the duty of the Labour-run council to minimise those disruptions, and manage the works efficiently.

"I look forward to hearing further details from the council regarding any impact assessments they have conducted on diversion routes, and have contacted Cllr Rayment for assurances on this issue.

"Residents and business rely on these roads, and so we will seek to ensure that the council's budget and completion time forecasts are adhered to, and that road users and residents will face as minimal a disruption as possible during the works period."
