CABLE: Jaguar Land Rover 'slump' sends clear message on Brexit

April 15, 2018 12:30 PM

Responding to the announcement that Jaguar Land Rover have blamed Brexit for the 'slump' that has seen them cut 1,000 jobs, former Business Secretary and Liberal Democrat Leader Vince Cable said:

"A 26% drop in sales in the last quarter is a huge loss to Jaguar Land Rover and the staff that have sadly paid the price as one of our top manufacturing companies with a large supply chain.

"The fact that JLR have blamed Brexit for this instability speaks volumes and I hope that the government takes notice of the struggles of one of Britain's greatest brands and exports.

"This sends a powerful signal about the damage Brexit will do, and is already doing, showing why we need a vote on the final deal."
