James Read - We need action on flytipping

By Southampton Liberal Democrats

A freedom of information request by Southampton Lib Dems revealed that fly-tipping clean-up costs have almost doubled since the Labour council introduced a charge for DIY waste at the Household Waste and Recycling Centre.

The even more shocking news is that Southampton City Council has not issued a single fine for fly-tipping since at least 2014. This is due to the scrapping of the city patrol who dealt with enforcement.

Portswood candidate James Read says:

"Our budget would introduce a community champions team to tackle fly-tipping and neighbourhood blight, and introduce a means-tested single free bulk waste collection per year to reduce dumping of large items."
