Lib Dems bid to keep Southampton in the Premier League

May 22, 2019 9:10 AM

Southampton Liberal Democrats rallied outside the Civic Centre on Saturday with our Stop Brexit banner ahead of the European elections on Thursday 23rd May.

According to Best for Britain polling, the Lib Dems are set to win at least two MEPs in the South East of England on Thursday: https://www.bestforbritain.org/vote

Catherine Bearder MEP, who joined the rally said:

"Just like Southampton Football Club will stay in the Premier League next season, we want to keep the UK in the EU and not demote ourselves to the fringes of world politics where we will be totally ignored.

"Our message on Thursday is very clear: a Liberal Democrat vote is a vote to stop Brexit."

Local activist and Southampton resident James Read said:

"The feedback I'm getting from the doorstep is that people are fed up of Brexit and just want it to stop. It doesn't matter whether someone voted Leave or Remain, we just want to put this behind us and get on with our lives.

"I urge voters to back the Lib Dems so that we can stop Brexit for good."
