Following intervention by Portswood Lib Dem campaigner James Read, an application to the council for the operation of a burger van - on Winn Road between the hours of 11pm and 1am - has been withdrawn.

James comments:

"I was shocked when residents came to me with this. I agreed with them that this application was wholly inappropriate in a residential area, especially as there are a number of fast food outlets in Portswood High Street open during these hours.

"Late night fast food trading in this location is bound to create additional footfall, and possibly vehicle movements, with associated noise, smells and litter."

After contacting the City Council on behalf of residents, James is delighted to report that the application has been withdrawn.

James adds:

"I am very glad that common sense has prevailed in this instance.

"I will continue to be accessible to local residents and will campaign with them to keep this residential area quiet at this hour."
