Ward Spokesperson

Joshua Smith

Joshua Smith"Most people tend to call me Josh! I'm a physics graduate of Southampton University and originally from Essex. I've lived in Southampton for over 7 years and now work full time at Solent University in their Students' Union. Outside of work I volunteer locally with the Scouts in a number of roles.

I'm standing in this election to help rebuild our community. We need to make our parks safe, our city clean and fix the divide between locals and students. Most importantly I want to give you a voice and way to directly shape how we represent you.

If you've got any ideas on how we can improve Southampton please do get in contact. We are here to stand up for you!"

Benjamin Curd

Ben Curd

Benjamin is a Contracts Supervisor and Part-Time Student at Solent University studying towards a degree in Construction Management. He has lived in the city centre and so understands local concerns.

Benjamin says: "I grew up just outside of Southampton, much of my youth was spent in the City before finally moving here a few years ago. We have much to be proud of, but every community has its own unique set of challenges. I see a lot of posturing from some, but not a great deal of action in regards to overcoming these challenges.

"I would like to see that situation change".

Benjamin's political campaigning has been driven by his resolve to listen to local residents, understand their concerns and seek solutions. Amongst other priorities he would like to see much more done to tackle issues involving homelessness and substance misuse within the City.

His personal interests include the theatre, the outdoors and of course politics.
