Ben Russell

Ben Russell

Ben is 32 years old and moved to Southampton in 2016 to undertake further studies at the University of Southampton.

Until his move to Southampton, Ben worked in the Foreign & Commonwealth Office as a diplomat, which included spending a year working in the British Embassy in Kabul. Before that, he spent two years as part of the Teach First programme teaching maths in a secondary school in the north of the country.

He has recently joined the Liberal Democrats, inspired by their positive messages on Europe, the economy and public services, as well as their plans for improving the local area. Ben has also become an active member of the community, and is a school governor for a local primary school.

Ben is particularly interested in helping to improve Southampton's environment, public services, and - as a keen cyclist himself - making Southampton a more bike-friendly city.
