This May, use your vote to re-elect Cllr Sarah Wood and support the Lib Dem team fighting hard for you. Only the Liberal Democrats can keep the Conservatives out in Bassett.

The Liberal Democrats’ priorities for Southampton
✅ Protect local services
The Lib Dem team are campaigning against irresponsible Conservative government cuts and financial incompetence. They are fighting for better access to GPs and more police.
✅ Improve our environment
The Liberal Democrats are committed to improving our environment. We are calling for more street trees, improvements to local parks, and investment in renewable energy.
✅ Invest in local facilities
The Lib Dems have successfully called for investment in the Sports Centre. Now we are pushing the council to get a move on as well as calling for improvements to facilities across the city.

Cllr Richard Blackman
Hi, I'm Richard, Liberal Democrat Councillor for Bassett.
I live and work in Southampton, a city I have also had a close association with all my life. I currently work at the University and bring 20 years of experience in the voluntary sector having worked in research, and for European, national, and local environmental non-governmental organisations. I am passionate about climate change, the environment and economic policy.
I am also a keen believer in personal development and lifelong learning, which was reflected in my active membership of Hamwic Speakers, the Southampton branch of Toastmasters International.
The Liberal Democrats have a reputation very running local councils efficiently and delivering great services for the very best value for taxpayers, I am hoping to be elected next May to start this work in Southampton.

Cllr Sarah Wood
Sarah has lived in Bassett since 1991 and has three children. Now her children are older Sarah would like to give back to the community that she raised her family in for the last 30 years. Sarah is a Chartered Engineer working on the sustainable development of new bridges. Sarah wants to use her experience in transportation, and her deep knowledge of Bassett, to improve our area and help local people.

Cllr Sam Chapman
Hi, I'm Sam. I was educated in local schools and at Southampton University and currently work as a healthcare manager.
Both nationally and locally our politics is broken. Residents in Bassett have been let down by the council. Residents finally want to see some local investment to catch up with the rest of our thriving city.
I want to see public transport provide a real alternative to parking on our resident's streets, proper management of weekend traffic to the Sports Centre, and investment bought in to improve shopping facilities in Lordshill.
As someone that has always lived in Southampton, should I be elected I will fight hard on behalf of the residents to deliver real change.
