Thelma Wield - A Liberal Hero
Shortly before our recent amazing election gains, I received the sad news that one of our long-standing members, Thelma Wield, had passed away.
Thelma was an extraordinary individual whose unwavering support and dedication to the Liberal cause spanned decades. Even in her nineties, her passion for the Liberal Democrats and her commitment to supporting our efforts in winning Bassett ward were unparalleled. Thelma was a dynamo of drive and energy in the campaign team.
Her contributions were vital to our ultimate victory in the ward. She bundled an incredible number of leaflets, wrote thousands of blue letter addresses, and was a key part of our campaign team.
In a recent exchange of emails, Thelma mentioned how much she enjoyed receiving Liberal News and how pleased she was with our local successes.
Thelma’s spirited enthusiasm and tireless work were a source of inspiration to all of us. Her efforts played a crucial role in shaping our success in Bassett, and her legacy will continue to be felt across our local party. It was an honour to have had her as a part of our local party, and she will always be cherished in our memories.
